Fraxel 1927 Laser Treatment @ Chua Skin Specialist

You guys must be wondering what's with that title for this post and if you're guessing for another aesthetic treatment, BINGO! It's two weeks after my filler touch-up session and I was invited to try out the Fraxel 1927 laser treatment. I was quite hesitated to give it a yes because there's so many things to worry. There's many things popped up in my mind - "I just did my filler so am not going to take any risk on my face" "What's going to happen after that?" "How long it's going to take to recover?"

WHAT actually tempted me to try it? When Samantha checked out my skin condition through my blog posts and told me that the treatment helps to lighten acne and chicken pox scars. Acne scars are a nightmare for any girls out there and I thought of trying it if it is really helping on it. We met up in the morning at Chua Skin Specialist and she has been really great to explain everything thoroughly without missed out anything that might concern me.

Just so you know that Chua Skin Specialist is a skin specialist (dermatologist) clinic practicing general dermatology, aesthetic dermatology, laser dermatology and cosmetology. They are registered with the ministry of health and in practice in current premise since 2008. The clinic is headed by the dermatologist who runs day to day consultation and hands on laser and aesthetic treatments.

I was introduced to Dr Chua and was brought into his room for consultation and further explanation of the treatment that I am going to do. He also did an analysis of my skin and aware of the filler that I've done 2 weeks ago. Thankfully, he said that the Fraxel 1927 won't affect the filler condition hence I need not to worry about it.

Fraxel 1927 laser treatment is the ONE and ONLY THULIUM 1927 nm wavelength in the industry, for outstanding non-ablative skin resurfacing. It targets aging and sun-damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin to expedite your body’s remodeling of collagen. And since the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes very rapid healing. Fraxel 1927 treatment resurfaces your skin by stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out.

Swelling and redness are the most common side effects from the Fraxel 1927 treatment. Any swelling is typically minimal and subsides within a day or two, and any redness typically fades within a few days. Other temporary side effects may include minor itching, dry skin, peeling or flaking, and a bronzed skin appearance. There is a limited risk of infection, hyperpigmentation or scarring.

Wear sunscreen of SPF30 or higher, avoid direct sun exposure for at least 3 months after your last treatment, and wear a wide-brimmed hat when you're in the sun.

I was brought into the treatment room and the doctor helped me to cleanse my face and apply the topical anesthetic ointment to the treatment area. I also informed the doctor that my pain tolerance level is super duper low and he gave me 2 tablets of painkiller to reduce the pain. Before the treatment started, Dr. Chua also injected in my face which also helps on numbing my skin. I hope it wasn't that embarrassing as I cried when he doing the injection.

Before the doctor begins with the treatment, he started with measuring my face in order to check how many strokes needed for my entire face. Look at this, my face quite small heh

IS IT HURT? Most patients describe an increased sensation of heat during the treatment. What about me? I actually teared several times as I could not handle the pain. I would describe it as when your hand touched a hot boiling kettle but most of the patients didn't feel it as pain as me, some claimed that it went away as it rolled away. I find it quite fortunate that this is rolling method instead of stamping method.

I managed to record a short clip showing how the doctor did the Fraxel 1927 laser treatment on me. Please forgive my silly face expression in the video, I just could not bear the heat that somehow turned into pain on my skin.

Look at that sunburned effect on my face after the Fraxel 1927 laser treatment. I felt like as if I have just done with sunbathing at the beach. *OUCH*

What I love about the service here? Knowing that I have an event to attend in the evening, Dr Chua applied the Intensive Post Laser Therapy mask to reduce the appearance of sunburned and also calm my skin.

Makeup can be applied after the treatment. Guess what? They won't let you to leave the room with redness on your face and Dr Chua applied the tinted moisturizer that contains SPF onto my face before I leave the clinic.

Now you see my natural looking face without any makeup but tinted moisturizer only. Yay to no redness and sunburned! ヽ(^。^)丿

Dr. Chua has certainly done a great job on explaining the entire treatment process and the do's and dont's for post treatment precaution. No more insecurity feeling for sure. He also gave me one pack of Intensive Post Laser Therapy mask for me to apply before going to my event in the evening. ♡^▽^♡

On the other hand, I was so happy and touched when Samantha stayed right beside me the entire treatment and held my hands tight to reduce my fear and tension. I was so glad and felt so touched. When I told my friends about this, all they gotta say is it's just me being the crying baby. ヾ(´・ ・`。)ノ” Do stay tune for my next post on the process of healing! (◡‿◡✿)
