OKONOMI | Publika

Another food post! (๑>á´—<๑)

I bet some of you have heard of this new food outlet called - OKONOMI - especially for those who are staying in Solaris Dutamas area. You see, working from home allows me to work remotely and the flexibility to enjoy my lunch time at anytime and anywhere I want to. That simply means I do not need to worry to travel all the way from Subang to Publika and not enough time to enjoy my lunch. Eric and I drove to Publika to try out the food at Okonomi with Anna.

Just so you know that, the name "OKONOMI" comes from the same Japanese word meaning "as you like it". At here, OKONOMI allows their patrons to indulge in their own creativity to find a sushi roll that's just right for them using their in-house unique ingredients, such as fresh fruits, katsu chicken, soy wraps and many more. Of course, you can always choose from OKONOMI's house rolls instead that created to please the sushi aficionado, first-time sushi eater and everyone in between.

Avocado Prawn Salad -RM18.90

There's no better way to begin your meal with a refreshing salad, in our case, this bowl of Avocado Prawn Salad! I couldn't remember there's how many prawns in the salad, but I do remember I had two of them! A simple mixture of prawns, sliced avocado, fresh greens and tobiko - it was really nice.

Veggie Delight -RM20.90

Towards the main, we get to try the customize sushi rolls! The first roll - Veggie Delight - made of soy wrap, urumaki, brown rice, carrots, asparagus, alfalfa sprouts, tempura flakes and kiwi mayonnaise. It was my very first time to try out soy wrap sushi and asparagus in sushi roll?! I dislike anything to do with soy, but you can hardly taste the soy here. I would say it was quite a unique combination, taste wise is alright, but not something that I will order again when I come back.

Seafood Supreme -RM26.90

Another custom made sushi roll - Seafood Supreme - made of urumaki, seaweed wrap, white rice, soft shell crab, Hokkaido crab meat, salmon, cucumber, cereal and yukke sauce. This is a fusion type of sushi with tantalizing spicy mentai within it too. I enjoyed eating this more compared to the previous one. Perhaps, the combination of this one pretty close to the normal sushi out there.

Cold Pasta -RM16.90

The Cold Pasta, is a dish that you either dislike or like it. It made of Hokkaido crabmeat, prawns, tamago, pickled cucumber, carrot slices, winter melon slices and ebiko served with rich sesame dressing. When it was served on our table, it has such a strong (rather unpleasant to us) smell that somehow made us felt reluctant to try it.  No one can explain it, the chef told us probably it comes from one of the fresh seafood ingredients or rich sesame dressing for the pasta. Give it a try if you're feeling adventurous like us, once putting it in your mouth, it's another different case as the smell didn't linger inside your mouth. Interesting dish!

Matcha Lovers Parfait -RM18.90

Matcha Lava Cake -RM16.90

My most favorite part throughout the entire meal would be the dessert time! If you ask me, please do not bother to order other desserts except these - Matcha Lovers Parfait and Matcha Lava Cake! You could taste the rich green tea flavor in each dessert, especially the lava cake. I thought it was so interesting to have their homemade matcha chocolate bamboo stick in both desserts, they are sinfully delicious! The green tea lava oozing out the moment you cut a slice of it. I will definitely go back for this lava cake!
